| Yakub, while I agree that Zionism has a rather precarious future ahead, and that demographics will play an important role in the move towards a democratic secular and binational (or federated) solution, I have to say your stats on Muslims in Europe are absolutely wrong. There is no chance that "in Europe" Muslims will be a majority in 40 years. Even in France, which has the largest proportion of Muslims (or people of Muslim background - many may be atheist/agnostic), they are only 6% of the population. Despite all the talk of Muslims in the UK, for example, here we have only 3% of the population that are of Muslim background. In other places the proportion is less than 1%. Even if there is a disproportionate birth rate (and Muslim immigrants in the 2nd generation onward tend to have families that are the same size as those of others in their communities) it would take centuries for Muslims to become the majority. |
