This is one very, very bizarre article indeed. The premise appears to be: "If the 2-state solution doesn`t catch on, then let`s try something that is even less likely to succeed."

A binational state is simply a non-starter, since it implies that millions of Palestinians would be repatriated. The result will be a civil war of the new binational state, with the inevitable split into two separate entities.

So what Benvenisti seems to be telling us is that we`re going to have to fight another bloody war in order to not the same situation, but an even worse one. Because after the war splits the binational state, there will be an additional 2 or 3 million Palestinians taking up arms while they`re in worse squalid conditions - because we know the Palestinians will spend their money on arms instead of building an economy.
There`s no factual reason to think otherwise.
