There is something very disturbing about that statement. It seems to express a longing for the opportunity to "defend". Will historians look back on Israel`s first 60 years of military aggression and occupation as an expression of the misplaced desire to "defend" against the scars of the holocaust? This may be a painful thought, but how deeply imbedded are the feelings of anger and shame in the collective minds of the descendents of the holocaust? So deep that they feel the need create enemies out of others who had nothing to do with it so that they can "defend" against them? Anyone else care to psychoanalyze this?
