| Ahmadinejad is not the leader of Iran. The Faqih is. The Faqih`s job is the preservation of the Islamic Revolution - his role is conservative by nature. He is a pragmatic realist, and history bares this out. In the past, people with radical revolutionary aims that have exported violence outside of Iran have even been violently put down by the regime. Ahmadinejad says many things (he never said `wipe Israel off the map`, poor translation look it up), mainly as a distraction from his own mishandling of domestic affairs IE the economy. He rallies up a nationalist frenzy and points his detractors to `the other`. They will not attack Israel, because they don`t want their country turned into a big crater. Its that simple. |
