We have been talking about sanctions for years with no effect. Russia may yet yield and tag along thanks to the new Obama policy towards it but China will never approve the crippling sanctions for two strategic reasons. One is the long term oil contracts with Iran and the second is that they do not see Iran as a problem for China since Iran does not threaten any Chinese strategic interests. They actually see it beneficial that the US and the West are preoccupied with Iran where China is the power broker.
The only option is military, I am afraid. |
