| There are very few people today who give Zionism a good name. Arieh - may God bless and keep him with us - is one of those rare beings. He represents the ideals of the founding ideology of our Israel with a conviction and determination that are implacable. He once, only a few years ago, asked a deputy head of our Foreign Ministry whether, bearing in mind that we are recognised as the strongest power in the region, we could show more sensitivity to the Palestinians. The answer he got was a virtual "Israel doesn`t do humility". The look on his face said it all as he heard that - pity. We would be better off were we to emulate the values that Arieh has lived by all of his life. I am aware that many people owe him a great deal. I only had the infrequent pleasure of meeting him but I will treasure the memories of those meetings. |
