It was a serious crisis. The US raised it`s nuclear forces to a level just short of an attack on the Soviet Union. We felt threatened by a few dozen nuclear warheads based in Cuba. This, it is true, would have more than doubled the number of warheads the Soviet Union could deliver against the USA were a war to happen. We could deliver thousands of nuclear weapons.

The Soviet Union never even bothered to raise the level of defense alert, though they did pull an R-7 intended for a satellite launch off it`s pad and deploy one with a warhead.

The Cuban Missile Crises showed that overwhelming nuclear power could be deterred by a very weak force.

An Iranian attack on Israel or a DPRK attack on the US would leave a flaming datum. An undeniable line in the sky leading to the launching nation and it`s destruction.

This is the simple fact that the paranoid lunatics out to start a war are too deranged by irrational fears to comprehend.

If Tel Aviv goes, Tehran glows.
