Read this line:
"It will be the first trip to the region for Dennis Ross since he was named to the position in late February."
That tells you everything you need to know about the "importance" of Ross`s position.
A "position" that was specifically created as a sop to AIPAC, and Ross is probably spending all his time talking to the janitor down the hall because no-one else will give him the time of day.
So the State Department is probably sending him on this joy-ride for no other reason than that they need the waste-paper baskets to be emptied, and Ross keeps stopping the janitor to have a chat. |
