In the world of medeicine things can have two names, such as medication that can be generic or brandnamed or illnesses that have both popular and technical names. Possibly the Ivrit translation of `swine flu` would have a different connotation because `swine` in Hebrew and Yiddish has a more pejorative connotation than in English. Being called a swine in English isn`t too positive either.
