What a joyful teaching to come from, of all places, the white House bully pulpit.
I am not a Jew but in my reading about Judaism, the wonderful lesson I learned from Rabbi Hillel was this:- "What is hateful to you, don`t do unto others". Absolutely heartwarming, inclusive even if one is an outsider, and very rounded moral advice in its respectfulness to the other person. Such is the morally uplifting teaching of Rabbi Hillel from 2000 years ago.
And so when one hears Obama`s Rabbi saying the truth "You don`t really show your love to someone by remaining silent when they`re doing something counterproductive or might harm someone else - if you will say that in order to be supporter of Israel you must agree with all its policies - you`re going to alienate millions of people who think of themselves as active Israel supporters." Thus in spite of Bibi`s destructive negativity, Virtuous Israel will win. Onward with 2 State solution. |
