I agree with Rabbi Saperstein that a support of Israel doesn`t have to mean a support for every government. But just as I can be and have been critical of past Israeli governments, I do so as a friend. Friends and family approach each other privately over disagreements. What the RAC and Saperstein do is try to force their policies from a third party that has often been very critical of Israel. Moreso, the RAC is the foundation of Reform Judaism tenents of liberal first, Jewish second. As someone who has been involved in both the Torah-Observant and Reform Jewish worlds I can tell you first hand that there is much more room for a political liberal in an orthodox shul than a political conservative in a Reform Temple. Rabbi Sapperstein and his friends are the same. Some people may have no problem being labeled "liberal" first, "Jewish" second. But if they are trying to say that the Jewish values and Torah are on their side they would know that the Jewish would be first on their scrolls.
