| Until the breakup of the Ottoman Empire after World War I, the Arabs saw themselves as one people, not as separate states. The concept of a Pal nationality as opposed to Jordanian, Syrian, Iraqi etc. was created after the creation of modern Israel. It justified keeping Pals in refuge camps for 60 years instead of integrating them into the 25 Arab states or 57 Muslim states. |
