| The ending is clearly designed to imply that the Israelis were planning all along to put up a wall anyway and that the they just spitefully wanted to cut down the grove. There is not significant mention of the terrorist bombings originating in the territories or the indoctrination of arab youth to kill jews. The American son is treated as a foil to the image of the angry arab youth who is stimulated to be a terrorist by the injustice done to his family. He is shown as just a nice guy who wants to help his mommy. HIs virulent anti jewish views that were drummed into his head are never shown, nor is the likely desire that those like him have to blow up Passover seders to kill and maim innocent jews. And as an aside, the refugee camp dwellings were far nicer than any apartment I ever had in manhattan. Time to stop complaining and blaming and start building!!!!! |
