Because of intermarriage and some people remain unmarried without children. I think t.v. said it was as low as 1 percent of the USA population, down from almost 2 percent.
This is probably due to the lack of antisemitism in the USA, where Jewish people face less prejudice and discimination than they did in Europe.
Our sociology professor said 50% of the Jews in the USA were intermarried; he, himself, is a Russian Armenian married to a Jewish woman. Whereas, other ethnic minorities in the USA don`t intermarry at all. |
