From what I understand Itzchak Rabin z"l refused to change the date of an event, and a few months later there was what people call the Mahapakh. Some time during Barak`s tenure, there people who pleaded that he not move the equipment for the Power plant on Shabbat . . . and he didn`t. Not that he may have been one of the less successful PMs, but, his tenure was cut short even earlier than it might have been.
I guess in the States they are more sensetive to the cultural and religious sensetivities of the population. |
