| We shall see how much pressure Mitchell can or will impose upon Israel. It is only through israel changing its policies of maintaining Gaza as a walled in prison and life-choking checkpoints, maintaining Jewish-only roads, destruction of arab homes in East Jerusalem, walling off the Palestinians from their own farm land, denying arabs equal access to sources of water, denying building permits to arabs while granting them freely to Jews, building of more and more settlement homes in the West Bank and, of course, Israel`s failure to honor the Green Line--only through changing these policies is peace possible. |
