And what does that actually mean- Israel is a Jewish state? That Israel is a state only for Jews? That Non-Jews don`t really belong (what Lieberman seems to push)? What about the other 20% of the population?
Even Israeli Jews can`t decide who is a Jew- we see this debate happening even now. With no constitution, how can we be sure that non-Jews would be treated equally and with respect? It doesn`t happen now!
This is another ploy by Netanyahu to delay, delay, delay. The Palestinians now have to either forget about a state, or legitimize the forced deportation of 20% of the population of Israel. Are these the administrations `new` ideas?!? |
