| There is an active and strong opposition to the regime in Iran. By threatening the country, you only silence those efforts, by exploiting separatist and terrorist groups within in Iran, you only undermine the legitimate opoposition movement. This regime is bankrupt and out-dated in both its ideology and the handling of the affairs of the country. There is a pronounced friction between the society and the state. In the absence of external threats, the inside currents are more able to mobilize against the regime. The only sure way of the toppling the regime is through the people themselves. Dialouge can be a powerful tool accommodating for that purpose. Once you engage the regime and demand it to uphold the civil rights standards as well as options that would ease economic realities of the country, it will give way to reform and normalization and a move away towards de-radicalization. Of course it won`t be an overnight event but it`s the best bet possible to us at this time. |
