By Avirama Golan : Pesach gift-giving has robbed us of our freedom

This is a Jewish nation, or at least the founders of the State thought they were establishing a Jewish State. They called it Israel because that was the name of the land, but we were, Jewish, no? We cared for each other, no? We were concerned for each other`s welfare, no?

After reading Ms Golan`s litany about gift giving, I guess the answer is no. Some Israelis have ceased to be Jewish, they don`t necessarily care for each other, nor are they conncerned for the welfare of their neighbors, next door, and farther in some othe place in the country. They are Israelis, of course, which means they have become a "normal people" walking by someone who falls down on the sidewalk, or worse, running down someone with their car and testifying six months later, only to deny that they drove the vehicle.

Sometimes, I wonder if the Haredim aren`t right when they criticise the Secularists of today for "not being Jewish".
