| Zertals viwews must be viewed in the context of the ongoing debate about the origins of the israelites.it is obvious and clear that there were a number of elements , both indigeonous and foreign that went into the mix.Zertal might be on the trail of those elements that came from across the jordan.A nuanced and sophisticated view is needed here, not the silly and simplisitc views expressed when this subject comes up. The worst is saying that the israelites were not native to israel so there is no connection between jews and it.Like saying since the Franks were a german tribe there is no real french people( Franks-French get it?) same for the English(the angles) etc. |
