The fact that people are proud of not eating beans, corn and rice on Pesah is beyond bizarre. The fact that people are not willing to consider relinquishing something as innocuous as eating things that are permissible demonstrates how utterly far we are from being able to move onto bigger issues. Kitnioyot, Kitniyos, Kitniyoth, no matter how you slice or dice them, exemplifies the paralysis of many orthodox Jews today, in capable of having a serious dialogue on any issue that constitutes a new reality.
