| Among European Ashkenazim the ban on kitnios was lifted during WW II when there was little else for soldiers to eat. We use kitnios toothpaste and kitnios oil. The only reason for changing would be if there was too little else to eat, and thank G-D that is far from the case. Many frum Sephardim in London seem to accept the Ashkenazic tradition. What would cause a major upheaval would be if Rabbis declared potatoes to be kitnios! |
