Hillel #7, inquiring minds would like it very much if you could provide sources for your statement. We would also like to have some insight as to what made Rav Yosef change his mind, if possible.

Ezra #8, what kind of authority do you expect? Judaism doesn`t have a pope or anything like that. Can the Rav in question examine the sources and make a proper psak halacha based on them - that`s the question. A Rav`s authority can be questioned anytime. Just ask Rav Chaim Druckman, whose many 1000s of converts were "unconverted" overnite. Prior to this he was well respected.
