| I was born and raised in a predominantly Ashkenazi community, and the thought of eating kitniyot on Pesach never crossed our minds !!! This was a custom and a stringency like many other stringencies that we would never think of giving up for the sake of convenience, that has been kept up for many centuries !!! And I find the one place that its coming under scrutinization is here in Eretz Yisrael, not in chutz l`aretz, and by religious, not the anti. For a week we should be proud of a stringency that we have kept up for the last few hundred years or I would hate to think what would be the next thing to be thrown out .... |
