Democracy is democracy and Judaism is Judaism. Being Jewish means that you celebrate Pesach, and, we commemorate our Freedom by eating Unleavened Bread. The penalty for eating Chametz is that you are "cut off" from the Jewish People. Which means you are no longer counted "as a Jew".

As I understand it, L.A. has counted himself out of the Jewish People, unless of course, he deicides to join us at the Seder table.

As such, many Jews in States, and Israel have long since left the "traditions of their forefathers" so that as long they are within Halacha they are okay whatever custom they follow. Seems to me that some rabbis like to be media heros instead of responsible leaders of their communities, so . . . what goes Forward is, as usual, backward.
