| America is seen to be overwhelmingly pro-Israel. Until this impression is dealt with, America will have no luck or cooperation in obtaining the cooperation of some of the other nations in the region. America is fighting militants in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan. As fate would have it, all three of these nations have borders with Iran. A hostile Iran can tip the scales against the American struggle in these hot spots. American support of Israel works against American efforts in the mideast. America has continued to pour dollars and support into Israel for decades, all the while being humiliated by Israel ignoring American peace efforts. Israelis have come to think of American support as Israels right and American peace efforts as interference. Israel has proven to be an unfit peace partner. The time has come to get tough. If American interests and Israeli interests diverge, let American place her own interests first for a change. |
