With respect to a two-state solution, the part that I don`t get is why do the proposers of these peace proposals always make ridiculous statements like, "2009 constitutes the last opportunity for a partition solution." If I had a dime for every time that I`ve heard the phrase, "This is the last chance for peace," attached to every document concerning the Middle East from the Sykes-Pico Agreement of 1915 to the present, then I would be able to buy a brewery. The Arab Ultimatum (Saudi Initiative) was a "last chance for peace" in 2002, 2007, and 2009. So was the Road Map of 2003 with a deadline of 2005 which came and went. So was the Annapolis Summit of 2007 with a deadline of 2008 which came and went too. Now, it`s the Volker Report with a deadline of 2009. I won`t bother with mentioning the scores of other peace proposals which preceded these and were also "last chances for peace".
