| There is a critically important key to understanding the Israel/Palestinian conflict. Israel has been expanding the west bank settlements, nonstop for almost 30 years. The reason this is critical is because it shows, very clearly, that Israel has lots of motive to avoid peace like the plague. Israel has not been building these settlements for 30 years with the intent of abandoning them. Once you understand this, then you will realize that Israel has been negotiating peace in bad faith for those 30 years and that Israel will never willingly make any peace with the Palestinians which will stop the settlement expansion. This fact colors everything that happens in the region. The fact that America is too weak to deal with this is the basis for Americas current and future problems in the region. |
