Sceptic: That`s accurate, but not quite honest. Basically, under the current status quo, the West Bank is indeed divided into three areas:
1) Area A, consisting of the existing towns and very little land outside them - generally not even a single inch. This is under complete PA control (well, except that Israel reserves the right to bomb or send in the troops as and when it likes). 2) Area B, nominal PA control, really under Israeli control for practical purposes. 3) Area C, consisting of most of the West Bank, and under total Israeli control. Only Jewish settlers are permitted to build in this area, and increasing amounts of land are being taken for by Jewish settlements, Jewish-only roads, and buffer land around them - generally from Palestinian farmland. |
