Of course, everyone is to see the `parallel` with other noxious groups expressing their freedom of speech -- the Nazis in Skokie were allowed to march, for example.
...and if the Arabs object, they look intolerant, etc.
The thing is, usually obnoxious groups don`t represent a state that all too clearly shares their ideas. Nobody figured that the Reagan administration shared the sentiments of the Nazis in Skokie. So in fact, the Arabs are to submit to an even more blatant, direct form of intimidation than ever.
But they mustn`t object -- they should take this lying down. And that`s what this is all about -- artfully grinding that boot even harder in the Arab face. In such a fashion that it all looks perfectly presentable. |
