Though it pains me to say it there probably has been a decline in the ethical standards in the IDF. I won`t excuse it but it was in some ways inevitable that this should be so given that Israel`s enemies appear to have no moral standards at all. For example, it is hard to respect civilians when they support suicide bombing, celebrate their every success and almost deify the `successful` shaheeds.
For me, this is the one thing that I cannot forgive the Arabs for - their aggression has forced Israel to respond aggressively rather than be able to show the people`s more natural character traits of compassion and kindness. |
