| Technically, Israel has peace with Egypt, and many point to this treaty are seen as a great accomplishment which enabled an end to war. It should be noted, however, that Israel has not been to war with Syria in equally as long, despite the lack of such a treaty. Is it really a piece of paper that prevented war, or more likely is it the inability to wage war successfully at this time? It is reasonable to ask what the treaty with Egypt is worth?and more to the point how long it can last?when men like Mohammed el-Katatny of Mubarak?s National Democracy Party openly declare ?Nothing will work with Israel except for a nuclear bomb that wipes it out of existence.?
