`It seems that what soldiers have to say is actually the way things happened in the field, most of the time` It seems that this statement is not factual, but an assumption based on several soldiers and incidents to describe the morale and ethics of the entire idf. And would anyone disagree that in war, our soldiers lives are more valuable than civilians of an enemy state? An investigation is indeed necessary to see if civilians were purposefully targetted, but from the description in Haaretz` first article, the sniper who shot and killed the woman and two kids was did not purposefully target civilians, as he was unaware that they were civilians. Should a soldier hesitate in such a situation? Even if he should, does that make him immoral? |
