Some Arab Mks have shouted "death to the Jews" in chant in the Knesset. And many comments are racist and anti Israel, to the point of encouraging violence and terrorism. Compare what is on record with what Lieberman has said and says, and you will understand why Lieberman has many votes behind him, not because of racism but out of frustration and distrust of the Arab Israeli motives.
I do not particularly like Lieberman`s style or politics, nor would I have ever voted for the man but I do understand the "why" of him. If all reading these talkbacks did the homework and looked up the many on record quotes by Arab Israeli MKs , you would understand better the background of Mr Lieberman. I do not believe is a racist, more of a realist, he will be practical in the end and far more pragmatic than the Arabs. Labeling him "racist" is a way to dismiss him but if we should the same method, using Arab Mks quotes, we could call them just the same. But we will not - that is the difference. |
