These are weasel words from the EU. The preferential trade agreement with Israel should be scrapped and the same approach adopted with Israel as with the apartheid state of South Africa in the past.
The European Parliament and the MEPs are coming under increasing pressure from the population of Europe who are horrifed at the brutal antics of the Israeli state and increasingly concerned the selfish reluctance of many governments to oppose this.
Thankfully with European elections coming the issue of support for Israel has moved onto the agenda and hopefully a much tougher line will emerge.
Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions worked (eventually) for apartheid. Maybe it can work for Israel. |
