It was understood by many, that these ongoing contacts was in fact endorsed by Washington. Is the UK playing another card, you know like in the good old days"division and ruling makes great diversion whilst Whitehall sets the new game rules".!
The US wants to engage with Syria, for the sake of the US pullout from Iraq.
