You make a nice point but it is predicated on the idea that US interests in the region are Palestinians/humanitarianism, what if they aren`t? What if US interest in the region is maintian a strategic alliance with the only nation in the region that has near equal capabilities and a willingness to co-operate, the only nation in the region that has similar cultural and political values, like free speech, democracy, liberal values.
Why is it that US must have an interest in Palestinian plight. Sure there is the humanitarian issue, but what if they are into economics? what can Palestinians offer? do they have a vast high tech sector, how about human capital (not just numbers, i mean skills and education). So why is it in US interests to provide aid to Israel, because it will reduce the bargaining power of terrorism for Palestinians? Because it will give Israel more might? What if this is in US interest? You can say its unfair but I don`t hear you scream when Iran ships Hamas... |
