It would follow that one could not be a Catholic if one thought the earth was flat, or if one thought that power lines caused cancer, or if one was convinced that the neighbors were conspiring to kill one.

Aside from matters of religious dogma, what one believes or doesn`t believe couldn`t possibly determine whether or not one was a Catholic. One can entertain all the false beliefs one wishes.

Now, I suppose the Pope could rule that to deny the Holocaust was heresy, but until that happens, the quoted assertion is logically ridiculous.

Certainly the Church can condemn Holocaust denial. They can even refuse to appoint clergy who deny the Holocaust. However, they cannot claim that one cannot be a Catholic and lack faith in the reality of the Holocaust. It`s not part of the Creed.
