| Any country or any organisation, can `edit` its own historical records, oir in other ways control access. Here in London there is a general `30 year rule` for releasing govt. documents, but some are marked `50 years` or linked to the death of a major character such as The Queen Mother. No one believes Pope Pius kept papers implying he supported Nazism. The question is only whether there is proof he did what could be done diplomatically to rescue persecuted Jews who would otherwise be murdered. Although Italy and Japan were Hitler`s allies, both countries avoided any involvement in anti-Semitism. |
