| I of course can understand Israel`s right to defend itself against Hamas. But I don`t understand the comments following this article that make apologies for this revolting, unnecessary behaviour. We are left with mental images of soldiers laughing with each other, playing puerile pranks, violating people`s homes, humiliating them. How can the IDF gain any respect - as rule enforcers - if soldiers are acting like soccer hooligans? War is ugly, it`s never going to be pretty. But there is such as thing as gentlemanliness, dignified behaviour in grave times. Israel must lead by example. |
