Nazareth was never a bustling metropolis, but it was village with a Jewish majority for a long time. I recall reading an item where one of the Church Fathers came by and described how the Christians were a minority, until, of course, 617 C.E. when the Jews were expelled for collaborating the the Parthians.

It is said that some Jews converted to Christianity in order to stay and their descendents form the backbone of the Maronite and other Eastern Churches who are puported to to maintain customs that are based on Jewish Law. So, there may be some Arab Christians who have Jewish roots, but by now, they are a clear minority among the other Arab speakers in the region.
