I think there is too much extremism on both sides (especially the Muslim side, but to a significant extent on the Jewish side too) for this to work in the short-term.

I think Barack Obama`s election helps (both for black-Jewish and Muslim-Jewish relations) and I do think if people on both sides can be open and rational, it can happen. The otherwise "Conservadox" rabbi of the temple I got married at (I am not a member but my in-laws do) strongly advocates dialogue with Arab/Muslim Americans and not to automatically assume prejudice and I also have frequent, sprited (but positive) dialog about the Middle East with the many Palestinian-Americans who run convenience stores/delis in my area (one of whom catered my engagement party).
