Needless to say a precedent was set 30 years ago.

The question is Greater Israel or peace with Syria?

Syria was a potent threat from 1948 through 1973. Since then the strategic reality of the region has prevented any real threat aside from Syria`s ability to harass Israel by backing terrorists.

Once upon a time, Syrian gunners could shell northern Israel from Golan with impunity.

The technology of war in the mideast has so dramatically changed that that threat is no longer real, nor can it be.

IF - a BIG IF - the issue is `security` then a demilitarized Golan is just as viable a defense as an occupied one, perhaps more.

If the issue is Greater Israel, then peace is not a option.

Israel`s choice. What does it want?
