| Syria wants normalization, aid and trade from the EU and US, concessions on Lebanon and, as you say, the whole of the Golan. These are the carrots Damascus requires, and for these it might make peace and so weaken Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas. Why it would settle for anything less than this I cannot understand, nor why Israel would want the EU and US to aid and trade with Damascus while we don`t receive neither the weakening of Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas, nor normalization as with Egypt and Jordan. The idea seems to be a non-starter. |
