If Syria has already refused 99.9% of the Golan, why would they accept less?
Furthermore-- early warning stations are useless. A conventional armoured attack is not at all the concern. Rather, as recent events have shown, a far greater threat is assymetric guerrilla warfare by local militias intermingled with the local civilians. This has happened in Lebanon, Gaza, and even Egypt, where terrorist gangs roam the Sinai and smuggle men and arms into Gaza and Israel.
This is what would happen in Syria as well, and no "early warning station" would help. Israel would be faced with chronic low level attacks staged from Syrian territory, and would be restrained from responding due to "peace" agreements. |
