Mr. Hartman, though not ringing his hands, still misses the main reason to explain Lieberman`s ascendancy. Firstly he is not rascist, he is against a large and vocal body of Arabs who openly show their lack of allegiance to Israel(which by charter is a Jewish state) and identify with Israel`s enmies. They demand equal benefits but refuse national responsibilities.They are not much different from the anti-zionist Jews like Naturei Carta. Both wish us harm, while being better off than they could be in any other country. Demanding loyalty has has no remote semblance to rascism, nor is it Jim Crowism.
Unfortunately most of our leaders are corrupt. That doesn`t tar him alone. No one mentions his desire to break the strangle hold of the haredi parties on both our government and on our civil laws. Lieberman is not frightening. He speaks to what half the population believes. |
