There is no modern precedent for such long occupation as it is one over West Bank and Gaza. Usually area was either annexed or population was expelled straight away.
Now imagine... Situation continues as it is now for next 20-30 years. World problems get solved so area around Israel stays one of last neuralgic points north of Sahara. International pressure grows on Israel to give Palestinians citizen`s rights. After new parliamentary elections, Law of return is extended to all former residents and descendants, regardless of religion... Sound improbable? who knew in 1940 that British empire will fall apart within quarter of century. |
