As a Jew, I am not insulted by this but I could understand why a Muslim would be insulted. To name the shoe Mohammed is one thing, to name it Mohammed with the intent of bothering somebody to whom that name is Holy and Sacred is poor manors at least and possibly offensive.
However, the point of importance is this, Freedom of Speech, as a Canadian I`d add, that this right in not unalienable, when somoene says they something they know to be false with the intent of inciting hatred against others this right should be infringed.
That said, this Freedom should not be infringed on grounds of religion in an indirect way. I.e. anyone should be allowed to paint a picture of any religions G-D.
There is no reason why the religious views of any religion should bind people who do not subscribe to it. This is a cornerstone of Liberal Democracy and a Right Which We Who Care For It Should Not be Intimidating of Expressing. To intimidate us from Expressing it is Assault |
