| I don`t know if you`ve noticed, but consecutive U.S. administrations and the EU have expressed repeatedly the problematic aspect of continued West Bank settlement development - even the impatience of George Bush with this matter was evident recently, 2007- 2008. The problem is that the Israeli governments continued to allow the settlements to be built by those with religious conviction to resettle the land which was previously part of ancient Israel and for security reasons, but the later is not the predominant concern. Now the land up to the Euphrates river near Syria and Jordan is also part of ancient Israel according to the Torah but the Israeli Governments had no intention to resettle this region, so I don`t see the problem of removing settlements which were intended to be annexed. Most Israeli leaderships have come to realize that two states side by side is the better alternative, and which we initially agreed to with PM Ben Gurion in 1947. |
