| Peace is not possible, even if it was attempted in good faith, which it has not been. There is too broad a chasm between the opposing positions, and Israel would prefer to go on indefinitely like this rather than withdraw from the west bank. Neither America or the EU have the will to do what is necessary to force peace. In the end, there will be a war and the war, if it is terrible enough, will force peace on the survivors. Israel has chosen expansion over peace, but that, at least, is understandable. America has chosen to enable Israel to choose expansion over peace and that is neither understandable or forgivable. |
